Topic 1: European invasion of South Africa. I havent't learnt anything about African history and it would be an interesting topic considering I have no background information of it's history in the 20th Century context. 
I could focus on African resistance to colonisation, the nature of the colonisation or the Boer War. 
I would need to decide on specific country's involved.  
Topic 2: Personality Grigori Rasputin.
I have no knowledge of Russian history, and I would be interested in researching a key influential figure.
I could look into his position and influence on the royal family.

Grigori Rasputin- his relationship with the Romanovs, position and effect on the tsar.
